IMPA London Panel Discussion and Debate – Adopting a New Standard for Environmental Footprint Calculation

Rasmus Elsborg-Jensen 🌱 chaired the Key Panel Discussion: Adopting a New Standard for Environmental Footprint Calculation at the IMPA – The International Marine Purchasing Association London 2024.

The debate focused on the newly launched IMPA Maritime Environmental Footprint (IMEF) Initiative. This initiative is pioneering a new standard for calculating and managing the corporate environmental footprint within the maritime industry.

The panel of experts discussed how this project, through an activity-based approach, sets a solid foundation for Scope 3 emissions calculations and integrates carbon footprint data into essential decision-making processes.

With this initiative, we at IMPA aim to create a harmonised and standardised approach that enables shipowners worldwide to access clear and reliable climate data on the products they purchase. This will not only level the playing field but also drive meaningful change towards a more sustainable maritime sector.
