A Reliable Starting Point for Emissions Tracking, Ensuring Regulatory
Compliance and Driving Decarbonization for Vessel New Builds
From tracking activity-based emissions during the new build stage to meeting industry standards and driving climate action, we empower you to lead the decarbonization of the maritime industry.
Our solution provides vessel owners and manufacturers with insights into shipbuilding processes, material assessments, certification requirements, ensuring compliance and leading the way to data-driven and transparent decarbonization in vessel new builds.
Use key documents like weight estimates and technical reports to ensure accurate emissions tracking.
Analyze vessel compartment, from hull materials to equipment, to optimize environmental performance during the manufacturing stage.
Ensure compliance with safety and environmental standards using reports such as the Hazardous Substances Inventory (IHM), identifying risks and opportunities for material substitution.
Integrate supply chain data and certifications to meet regulations and improve the manufacturing process.
GHG baselines are essential for meeting regulatory demands, demonstrating climate leadership, avoiding greenwashing pitfalls, and building trust through transparent data-driven climate efforts.
Join us when we discuss the importance of Scope 3 emissions in the maritime industry! Gain valuable insights from industry experts, each offering a unique perspective on the challenges and advice related to Scope 3 emissions.
Terms like CSRD and Scope 3 emissions are new for many maritime producers, shipyards, and service companies – that was why it started as our first topic at the newly established ESG taskforce at Danske Maritime (Danish Maritime).
While the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) sets new benchmarks, understanding it doesn’t have to be difficult. It calls for more extensive reporting on climate matters, particularly regarding Scope 3 emissions – those emissions that are part of your supply chain but not directly from your activities. Let’s demystify CSRD and Scope 3 emissions together.
Take the first step towards cleaner, more efficient operations by leveraging accurate emissions data, aligning with global regulations, and driving impactful decarbonization strategies for your vessels.
A GHG baseline for vessel new builds focuses on quantifying greenhouse gas emissions during the manufacturing stage. This includes emissions from material sourcing, energy inputs, waste generation, and supplier activities, providing a foundation for understanding and reducing the environmental impact of the shipbuilding process.
Calculating GHG emissions during the manufacturing stage ensures transparency and accountability in the early phases of a vessel’s lifecycle. It helps shipbuilders and stakeholders identify emission hotspots, optimize processes, and align with regulatory requirements and climate goals right from the start.
To calculate GHG emissions during the building phase, key data is required on product composition (Lightship Weight and Bill of Materials), energy and waste (usage and generation during manufacturing), product distribution (supplier locations), and the assembling process (energy consumption, emissions, water usage, and waste). This information can be gathered by contacting the purchasing department, suppliers, sales teams, or the shipyard’s sustainability department.
Beyond regulatory alignment, a GHG baseline helps reduce costs through optimized fuel use, improves operational efficiency, and supports climate leadership by demonstrating transparency and commitment to decarbonization. It also strengthens stakeholder trust and positions vessels as leaders in sustainable shipping.
Our lifecycle-based environmental quantification system makes it easy to calculate, document, and share environmental performance data of companies and products. We remove the complexity around LCA-based calculations and make it possible for users with just basic company and product knowledge to make advanced calculations.
